This year, Advent starts on Sunday Dec. 3. That means this is one of those unusual years in which the Fourth Sunday of Advent falls on December 24. So we start Sunday the 24th in the season of Advent and then in the evening we celebrate Christmas Eve.

Sunday, December 24

Sunday Morning - The Fourth Sunday of Advent

8am   Holy Eucharist, Rite One

10am   Holy Eucharist, Rite Two, with organ, choir and hymns

Sunday Evening - Christmas Eve

4:30pm   Holy Eucharist, Rite Two, featuring a Christmas tableau presented by the children and youth of St. John’s

9:00pm   Festival Holy Eucharist, Rite Two
(caroling begins at 8:45pm)

11:15pm   Festival Holy Eucharist, Rite Two
(caroling begins at 11:00pm)

The Christmas Tableau is a tradition at the 4:30pm service on Christmas Eve that takes place during the Gospel reading. All children and youth are invited to participate. We are always in need of shepherds, sheep and a “heavenly host” of angels. We will rehearse at 9am Sunday, December 17. If you have children or youth who would like to be a part of the tableau, contact Diana Carter or Paula Rule, 918.742.7381, or just show up at the rehearsal. The best parts are always given out at Sunday school.
