Saint John's has a proud tradition of acolytes serving during worship. Young people 10 years and up (boys and girls), serve as torch bearers, crucifers, and altar servers. Our acolytes lead the procession into worship, lifting high the cross. Acolytes accompany the Scripture reading of the Gospel, and help make sure communion goes smoothly.
Acolytes serve on teams about once a month and there is always room for more. It is a great way for kids and youth to learn about the Episcopal Church's liturgy with up close and personal experience.
A training session is required. Meg Perdue would love to tell you more -
